Abdeselam BOUCHEKIF

Abdesselam BOUCHEKIF is a researcher in Natural Language Processing  and Large Language Models  at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU). He obtained his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Le Mans (France) in collaboration with Orange Labs in 2016, with a thesis entitled “Automatic Structuring of Audio Documents.”

Following his doctorate, Dr. Bouchekif served as an Associate Professor at EPITA (France), where he contributed to several research projects on sentiment analysis, dialogue understanding, and emotion detection in textual conversations.

In 2020, he joined the Huawei Finland Research Center as a Research Scientist, specializing in hate speech detection, adult content moderation, and ethical AI for language technologies.

Currently, his research focuses on the development and evaluation of Arabic Large Language Models, particularly their application to Islamic legal reasoning and domain-specific fine-tuning related to Islamic jurisprudence.
