On behalf of the organizing committee, we are delighted to invite you to participate, in person or virtually, in the 17th World Congress of Bioethics (WCB), in Doha, Qatar from 3-6 June, 2024. The main theme of the WCB is “Religion, Culture and Global Bioethics”.
This edition of the Congress has several distinctive features that will contribute to the uniqueness of the WCB experience.
In addition to addressing the secular bioethical perspectives, the WCB 2024 will focus on the interplay of religion, culture, and bioethics. This hybrid approach aims to bring as many voices and perspectives as possible to engage in constructive dialogue and critical discourse to further enhance the global standing of bioethics.
Hosting the WCB in Qatar presents the opportunity for an intercultural experience that spans the Middle East, Arab-Muslim World and Asia and will encourage and facilitate networking opportunities with researchers and scholars who were not sufficiently represented at previous congresses.
Transitioning to a post-pandemic world continues to raise bioethical and environmental challenges. Cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, that are increasingly being adopted by healthcare systems around the world, present challenges and opportunities in equal measure. The WCB 2024 will be an ideal platform for bioethicists worldwide to explore these issues, together with many others, in more detail.
We look forward to welcoming you to WCB 2024!
Mohammed Ghaly, Chair
Sultana Afdhal, Co-Chair
