Description
This panel discussion is a collaborative effort between the International Association of Bioethics (IAB) and the World Health Organization Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean (WHO EMRO). It is envisioned to be the first of a running series during each World Congress of Bioethics where the IAB will jointly organize an event with a WHO entity to learn about bioethics from WHO perspectives. By bringing together expert panelists and stakeholders in bioethics in the Eastern Mediterranean region, including representatives from the WHO EMRO and WHO Collaborating Centres for Bioethics, the panel discussion seeks to foster a better understanding of bioethical issues and perspectives in the region. The talks will cover diverse themes in medical and research ethics, and how regional concerns, Islamic religion and culture, and other contextual factors bear on ethical issues as they arise in Eastern Mediterranean contexts.
