Background
The Research Center for Islamic Legislation and Ethics (CILE) is an academic center based in the College of Islamic Studies, Hamad Bin Khalifa University in Qatar, with an international orientation and an ambitious research agenda. CILE aims to achieve its vision and mission through producing original, high-quality, impactful, and interdisciplinary research in the emerging field of Islamic Ethics. This includes research in areas such as biomedical ethics, artificial intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies, migration and human rights, and politics. CILE has established the Scopus-indexed Journal of Islamic Ethics and the peer-reviewed book series “Studies in Islamic Ethics”, both published by Brill.
New Research Assistants
CILE is recruiting new Research Assistants to support its faculty in ongoing and future research projects and related initiatives.
Qualifications & Required Skills
The ideal candidate for the “Research Assistant” position is a graduate student or junior researcher with the following qualifications:
- B.A. or M.A. degree.
- A background in, or strong interest in, the broad field of Islamic Ethics or related applied fields.
- Proficiency in both English and Arabic.
- Excellent writing and analytical skills.
- Ability to draft and edit various reports and communications.
- Clear and concise articulation of ideas.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications.
- Strong oral communication and interpersonal skills.
- An M.A. degree in Applied Islamic Ethics or related areas (e.g., Islamic Studies) is an advantage.
- Prior experience in research project management or academic publishing is advantageous.
Key Responsibilities
Research Assistants will support CILE faculty with a range of academic and research-related activities, including:
- Assisting in the preparation of research proposals and associated budgets for funding applications.
- Coordinating the planning, execution, and submission of research projects.
- Conducting literature reviews, collecting and digitizing sources, and analyzing data.
- Facilitating communication among CILE faculty and with external research partners.
- Preparing reports, presentations, and databases for seminars and international conferences.
- Providing professional editing and proofreading support for academic papers and articles.
- Maintaining and developing networks within the academic research community.
Position Details
- Contract: This is a full-time, one-year position, with the possibility of renewal. The expected start date is early 2026.
- Eligibility: Applicants must be based in Qatar and hold a valid, sponsored Qatari ID. Please note that this position does not offer visa sponsorship or additional benefits.
