Doha, November 18, 2015 – The Research Center for Islamic Legislation & Ethics (CILE), member of Hamad bin Khalifa University’s Qatar Faculty of Islamic Studies (QFIS) at Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, continues its activities for the current academic season with an open lecture entitled "Islamic Studies: The Need for Intellectual and Spiritual Revolution" on Wednesday, November 18th from 7pm to 9pm at the QFIS new building at Qatar Foundation.
The lecture will be presented by Dr. Tariq Ramadan, CILE Director, Visiting Professor at Hamad bin Khalifa University, and Professor of Contemporary Islamic Studies at Oxford University in the UK.
This lecture comes as part of Hamad bin Khalifa University’s efforts to provide a vision for contemporary research in Islamic studies. Through this lecture, Dr. Tariq Ramadan will provide a critical assessment of the reality and curricula of Islamic studies, as he calls for a spiritual and intellectual revolution in the field. Dr. Ramadan will call attention to the vision of Islam, its higher ethical objectives, and its liberating mission, as well as exploring radical, creative, and sustainable solutions to the challenges of our contemporary world.
The lecture will be delivered in English; simultaneous translation to Arabic will be available.
