The Research Center for Islamic Legislation and Ethics (CILE), member of Qatar Faculty of Islamic Studies (QFIS), organizes a public lecture on “Mohamed Abdullah Diraz: Pioneer of Quranic Ethics” on Monday, March 3rd, 2014 at 7: 00pm. The event will be held in Education City, Qatar Foundation.

This event comes among a series of public lectures organized by CILE where prominent group of scholars and experts participate to discuss the most important issues in different disciplines including: politics, economics, media, bioethics, arts, environment, education, gender issues, psychology, and methodology.

The Center seeks to deepen discussions on these contemporary issues and provide some ethical approaches developed by both the scholars of text and scholars of context.

Dr Mohamed El-Moctar El-Shinqiti, Professor of Islam and Political Ethics and renowned Islamic thinker will deliver this lecture in which he will spot some light on the biography of Diraz, his personal traits and characteristics, his intellectual methodology and his style of writing. Dr El-Shinqiti will talk about Diraz’s books and writings in Arabic and French, focusing on the areas of renewal in his work especially in the sciences of the Quran. Actually Diraz developed a unique understanding of the Quran and established a new way of proving its divine source.

Moreover, he is the founder of two new disciplines in the sciences of the Quran, namely the Ethics of the Quran and the Source of the Quran. The lecture will tackle in detail his contribution to the field of ethics of the Quran and clarify the foundations of his methodology and theory of renewal in this field.
