CILE Organises 2nd Annual International Conference on Ethics in a Changing World: Contemporary Perspectives

Doha, Qatar, 12 March 2014: The Research Center for Islamic Legislation and Ethics (CILE), a member of Qatar Faculty of Islamic Studies (QFIS), will be hosting its second annual international conference on ‘Ethics in a Changing World: Contemporary Perspectives’ this weekend.

The conference will be held at Georgetown University in Qatar on the 15th and 16th March and will tackle topics in four fields: media, environment, psychology, and gender. Keynote speakers include: Tawakul Karman, Nobel Prize Laureate, Reem Maghribi, Former Arab World Program Leader at Greenpeace, Malik Badri, UNESCO expert in psychology, and Wadah Khanfar, former Director-General of the Al Jazeera Network, together with internationally renowned experts and researchers of different disciplines. Dr Tariq Ramadan, Executive Director of CILE, will deliver the closing speech.

The chosen four areas reflect CILE’s vision in seeking to deepen discussions on these contemporary issues; to enable Muslims to reform their reality, theoretically and practically, reconcile with themselves and the world, and contribute to the global discourse from their doctrinal, ethical and legal perspectives. CILE focuses on applied ethics and seeks to develop an Islamic approach to address contemporary global challenges and radical reform in these fields.
