Call for Research Papers Ijtihad in Contemporary Context: Concept, Functions and Methods (27-29) September 2016

In its quest for developing the scientific research and reviving Islamic legislation and ethics studies, the Research Center for Islamic Legislation and Ethics (CILE) has the pleasure to invite scientists and researchers to contribute their research papers to the special seminar organized by the methodology and ethics unit at the Center, under the theme: “Ijtihad (Juristic Deduction) in Contemporary Context: Concept, Functions and Methods”, as it comes within the vision and framework specified in the (Background Paper for the Seminar). The seminar will be held during 27-29 September 2016 in Doha.

Applicants wishing to participate should send a summary (in the range of 300-500 words), describing the research’s thought and the method of addressing it, along with a brief biography (not exceeding 500 words) that includes the scientific outline of the author, his/her scientific interests and the most prominent published works. The Center will host the authors of the most distinguished papers, and will assume their travel expenses and accommodation during the days of the symposium.

 

Publishing plan:

Authors of the accepted abstracts will receive a message confirming the approval of their idea and the need to provide full papers within the deadline specified hereunder. Research paper size should be between 5000 and 7000 words, in which the writer should adhere to the recognized standards of the scientific research and methods in handling the research topic, discussion and documentation. The Center accepts research papers written in Arabic or English. 

All research papers will be subject to scientific arbitration. Approved papers will be published in the series of approved academic publications issued by the Center through the prestigious “House of Brill” in Leiden-Holland.

Important Dates:

·      The deadline for the receipt of abstracts and accompanied autobiographies is May 20, 2016

·      The Center will accredit the appropriate abstracts, and will inform authors no later than May 30, 2016

·      The last day to receive completed research papers is August 30, 2016

·      The Center will accredit the appropriate papers, and will inform authors no later than September 10, 2016
