Experts From Around The World To Participate In Event At Qatar Foundation

Doha, Qatar, 1 January 2015:

The Research Center for Islamic Legislation and Ethics (CILE) is to host its next public lecture, ‘The Qura’n and Ethics: Concept and Approach’, on Tuesday 6th January.
Part of CILE’s popular monthly lecture series, the event will take place from 7.00pm to 9.00pm at Qatar Faculty of Islamic Studies in Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) at Education City. CILE is a member of Qatar Faculty of Islamic Studies in HBKU, which is itself a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF).

Through this event, CILE supports QF’s mission to foster an engaged society appreciative of its Islamic heritage, and that is equipped to address contemporary issues and challenges.
The lecture will address the ethical reading of the Qura’n, in particular, aspects highlighted by ancient and contemporary scholars. Additionally, experts will tackle the concept, methodology and objectives from legal and philosophical perspectives, as well as discuss a selection of ethical ideas in the Qura’n.

Dr Mu’taz Alkhatib, Assistant of Methodology and Ethics at CILE, will moderate the talk. A group of prominent scholars and researchers in Islamic and Human Sciences are set to participate in this event, including Dr Abu Yaarub El-Marzouki, Professor of Arabic and Greek Philosophy at Tunis University; Dr Kevin Reinhart, Associate Professor at Dartmouth College in the UK; Dr Abdulrahman Shehri, Associate Professor at King Saud University in Saudi Arabia; and Dr Abdulrahman Helli, Visiting Fellow from the Free University of Berlin.

This public lecture will be the concluding event of the three-day specialised closed seminar on ‘The Qura’n and Ethics’. Bringing together a group of distinguished scholars and experts, the event aims to establish a collective framework that will help develop research in ethical readings of the Qura’n and explore the role of ethical concepts in rebuilding the legal system of Islam.
