05/2019 Hadith as Ethics: The Prophetic Practice as a Moral Model

The Research Center for Islamic Legislation and Ethics (CILE), a member of College of Islamic Studies (CIS) in Hamad Bin Khalifa University, cordially invites you to the upcoming public lecture titled:

"Hadith as Ethics: The Prophetic Practice as a Moral Model"

It will be held on May 1st, 2019 from 7 to 9 pm in the Auditorium of the College of Islamic Studies building. In this lecture, scholars will discuss the following:

  • Approaching Hadīth and Sunnah as a reference for ethical theorization remains under-researched.
  • The lack of in-depth studies that duly reflect the intensity of the ethical content contained in the various Hadiths, or in prophetic practice.
  • The first level of analysis, the Prophetic Sunnah, is approached as a revealed reference or an exemplary application of the revelation.
  • The second level of analysis, the Sunnah, is approached as a historical reference for the ethics that prevailed in the formative period of Islamic history.
